That's why there are always institutions or business magazines that make a ranking of who is the richest in the world every year. Forbes magazine has reported on the ranking of these rich people every year. Therefore you will know who is in the number one position and who has gone up or down in the rankings.
It's interesting to see who the three richest people in the world are according to Forbes magazine.
The 2021 edition of the World's Richest Man has been
crowned. Forbes has released its annual Billionaire list, which names the
highest earners for the previous 12 months, and it's worth noting that Amazon
CEO Jeff Bezos is not at the top of the list. Bernard Arnault, the chairman of
LVMH, has dethroned Jeff Bezos as the world's richest man. Even more startling
is how much the world's wealthiest person's fortune grew in 2021, a year
blighted by pandemics, infrastructure delays, and widespread economic turmoil.
And he wasn't the only one.
Despite the obstacles of 2020, Forbes‘ 35th annual list of
the world's wealthiest people ‘exploded' to an unprecedented 2,755, up 660 from
the previous year. Forbes estimates that the combined fortune of all the
billionaires on the list is USD 13.1 trillion, up from USD 8 trillion last
year. The staggering figure is the result of rising cryptocurrency and stock
prices, as well as a slew of initial public offerings.
In reality, the report adds 493 new billionaires to the
list, averaging one every 17 hours. Miriam Adelson of Nevada, who inherited her
husband Sheldon Adelson's fortune, is the wealthiest of the new billionaires.
The number of billionaires who are returning to the list is
maybe the most intriguing statistic. Around 250 persons who had previously gone
off the billionaires' list have resurfaced, with Forbes estimating that a
whopping 86 percent of all billionaires are now wealthier than they were a year
ago. For the worst year ever, that's not bad.
As previously stated, Bernard Arnault has claimed the title
of the world's richest man for the year 2021, but the competition is heating
up. For the first time, four people with a net worth of $100 billion or more
have been identified.
For the year 2021, here is a list of the top ten wealthiest
persons on the planet.
Bernard Arnault, the French luxury goods tycoon, has had a
fantastic year. Arnault's 47 percent stake in LVMH became the most valuable in
the world after the company's market value increased to USD 417 billion as a
result of a surge in share price. Arnault is the world's richest man, with a
net worth of USD 196 billion.
The luxury division, which includes Louis Vuitton, Bulgari,
TAG Heuer, Hennessy, Sephora, and Christian Dior, reported a 30 percent
increase in stock price year to date. With Amazon founder and perennial rich
list winner Jeff Bezos' wealth eroding, the French businessman has surpassed
Bezos to become the world's richest man.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has become a familiar face at the top
of Forbes' list of the world's wealthiest people, but he was recently
dethroned. A drop in earnings caused Amazon shares to drop 7% in one day,
resulting in a loss of USD 14 billion for Bezos in 24 hours. Having said that,
the entrepreneur has now been the world's richest man for three years, and his
wealth has risen to USD 186 billion, a USD 73 billion increase from a year ago
due to rising Amazon shares.
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has risen to No.
3 in terms of dollar gains this year. Musk is now worth a whopping USD 160
billion, up from $24.6 billion a year ago when he was ranked 31st and worth
$130 billion, thanks to a 705 percent increase in Tesla stock. He was the
world's richest man at one point this year, but due to shifting stock prices,
he has slipped to second place.
